Capturing the unforgettable sight of NASA’s SLS Artemis rocket launch from Kennedy Space Center
In the wee hours of Wednesday, November 16, 2022, at 1:47 am EST, NASA's newest rocket, SLS Artemis, had a historical launch from the Kennedy Space Center at Cape Canaveral, Florida. After having spent several weeks leading up to the launch scouting locations in order to photograph the streak of light as the rocket left Earth, I stumbled across one location that allowed me to almost perfectly capture the launch. This shot is possible due to the fact that the launch of SLS Artemis had been scrubbed or rescheduled several times, and even delayed due to RADAR technical difficulties and the red team being deployed during the countdown, which allowed for the incredible alignment of the moon with the rocket's trajectory.

Landscape Photography on Location - Chasing the Milky Way
In this video we venture out searching for dark skies and the milky way. I dust off the cobwebs for the start of the milky way season and try to hone in my astrophotography technique, and realize just how rusty I am. With a lack of batteries and lack of sleep, I spend one long moonless night chasing the milky way around a volcano in the pacific northwest.
Chasing Wildflowers and Waterfalls with Nick Page
In this video, I am finally able to attend a long-awaited Wildflowers and Waterfalls Workshop with famed photographer, Nick Page. Over the course of 3 days and 2 nights, four other attendees and I venture around the Columbia River Gorge, with Nick Page as our guide, in search of wildflowers, waterfalls, and color to photograph. While the weather wasn't preferred for most sunrise and sunsets, we were able to walk away with a couple of images for our portfolios.
The Wind Can Be a Landscape Photographer’s Enemy
In this video, I get the chance to explore some sand dunes along the Oregon Coast. I learned the hard way that sometimes coastal photography + grass + wind does not equal an epic image, even if there is amazing predawn light. Am I able to capture an image that is compelling? Or does the wind get the best of me?
Landscape Photography - In Search of the Elusive Waterfall
In this video, I make the long trek to a locally famous, yet secluded, waterfall that has been on my bucket list for years with absolutely no idea of what I'm getting myself into. Will the lack of sleep or the caffeine jitters get to me first?
Photographing Wildflowers on The Elwha
In this episode, we used a different mode of transportation to get to our photography location: bicycling. Due to several road washouts that were a direct result from removing the Glines Canyon Dam, we must bike along the decommissioned road and along a steep bypass trail in order to reach the dam overlook. From here, we stash the bikes and make our way into the old reservoir and onto the sediment terraces, which are remnants of the large sediment deposits that were held back by the dam, thus filling the historical basin. Riverbank lupine (Lupinus rivularis) are playing an important role in the recolonization of the river basin, as well as give a calming aesthetic to the old dam site.
