SLS Artemis

On November 16, 2022 at 1:47 am EST, the NASA Space Launch System (SLS) Artemis launched from Launch Complex 39B at the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. The rocket launched the Orion capsule, the first human-rated spacecraft since the Apollo missions, for its maiden test flight prior to sending astronauts back to the moon. The Orion capsule will perform a retrograde orbit around the moon and will return back to Earth. The goal of the SLS Artemis program is to put the first woman and person of color on the moon, and ultimately create a lunar station to allow future space travel to Mars.
